Helen is an RE teacher who currently runs two freelance projects.
'Peacethread' is an interfaith project which links young people with members of local faith communities in order to discuss issues of peace. You can read more about the project at the blog space: www.peacethread.blogspot.com
The aim is to develop this work within the area of spiritual education. Helen is developing the concept of consultancy with her colleague, Rev David Hodson, a Baptist minister.
'Brightfields' involves running motivational courses for young people as well as delivery of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Her main focus is on raising aspirations of young people through independent learning. In partnership with Aimhigher, Helen and David are also launching an interactive session with post 16 students based on the story of his childhood chopper bike!
Helen is studying for a doctorate in Practical Theology with the Cambridge Theological Federation through which she is hoping to research ways in which teachers can gain more confidence in the area of 'promoting' spiritual development, mostly through the methodology of their teaching. Her latest research paper is entitled ' developing the craft of the spiritual classroom'.
